There are some things that I want to bring with me in 2013, and some things that I want to leave behind my back.

2012 I’m taking with me

  • Moving to London: yes, I know, it was actually 2011, but 2012 has been the first year of me leaving home, my country, and living in London. I’m in love with being a free bird, and I’m taking this with me in 2013.
  • Going back with my boyfriend: we’ve been apart for some of 2011, and some of 2012 as well. Now, we’re back together. I’m definitely taking him with me whenever I will go, especially in 2013!
  • Pursuing my career in costume design: 2012 saw my first experience in a film in London. I’m going to get through this jungle and get something positive out of it! 2013 will be a brilliant year, I can feel it.
  • styleBizarre growth: 2012 doubled the visits to my blog, and I was and I am more than willing to go on with it, and make it better in 2013!
  • Awesome new friends:  be sure to keep close people that are positive, that believe in you and that you trust from the first moments of your friendship!

2012 I’m leaving behind

  • Being broke: I’m definitely done with having no money. Something needs to change in 2013! I’m taking my blog more seriously, I’m looking for a *more-money* job and so on. I’m done staying home counting  pennies!
  • Being apart from my boyfriend: whatever that means, as soon as we’ll be over this shit that is keeping us apart, I’m gonna be with him no matter what. I want to live with him in 2013 and if that means me moving in another country, going back to mine or him coming here, let it be!
  • Procrastinating: yes, I’m telling you this every year. Bloody hell it’s the worst disease I’ve ever had, I can’t find a cure!!
  • Flatsharing: this one is more a hope than a resolution, cause I don’t really have enough money now to live on my own, especially in London! But God knows how sick I am of living with selfish people who don’t really know how to live with other people!

Stay tuned for the classic “Next Year Resolutions” post that will surely come in a couple of days! For now… What are you taking with you straight into 2013?

It was good to read your resolutions. 2012 wasn’t much for me to talk about blog-wise, but I did get to spend a lot of time offline building relationships and all that mushy jazz. I know what you mean by making new friends. 2012 was good for me in that way.

I am planning to move out of our moldy house too. Actually right now, we are somewhat saving money by living temporarily at my hubby’s parent’s house… yeah, I want this to be as short as possible. So, I hope you get to find some flatmates you can at least stand be live with soon!

I’ve always wanted to make most of my money writing what I like, but it really hasn’t happened. I assume that is your dream job as well?

By the way, I just added you to my links. I should’ve done that sooner. Half of the people on my link list just disappeared. :-/

It feels good writing about resolutions and stuff cause letting other people know makes it more…. real somehow! So you did have mould afterall? It’s not back in my room yet and I’m very happy about it haha! I don’t know if I’ve got you in my links actually! I’m not at home now I’ll check later! By the way I’d like to make a bit more money blogging but my job is actually in costume design! A very very free lance job, and it’s a tough world out here! :(

Yes, the result from the lab said we did indeed have mold. Nothing too serious, but we’ve gotten sick enough this year possibly due to it. Oh I would love to do costume design. Did you go to school for fashion?

Yes I did! A 4 years costume and fashion design BA, then I have worked for two years as costume supervisor and occasional costume designer, then I moved to London and I had to start it all over again! So being a costume assistant in a film last month was a great achievement for me. Moving abroad and finding your way especially in a city like London is definitely not easy! Btw it is an awesome career, full of new things every time, new people, new challenges every day! I love it and at the moment it’s the path I want to pursue! If you want to have a look I do have a *portfolio* website: http://www.elisabinibrescia.com which is my name haha!

Glad you had a meaty portfolio to show in London, because you would’ve really had to start from scratch… it’s a tough, tough world out there. :-( I’ve worked designing websites since I was about 13, and I gave that up because it was just too darn geeky and extremely picky (but tasteless) clients weren’t really making me happy. The problem with designing (no matter what) for other people is that you sometimes have to change your own style in order to fit someone else’s, so you can get paid for it. Even though that’s just how it is, I just don’t like it :-(

I checked out your stuff. Impressive! :) You are also exactly my age!

Oh yes, you ALWAYS have to change your style to fit someone else’s tastes and desires! It’s awful! But hey, it is one of the challenges anyway! :D
